I am deeply sorry to hear of the huge loss of life and sorrow inflicted on the families, friends and our brothers and sisters there in Austin, Texas, and
throughout the US yesterday. Sincere condolences to you all. Such an unnecessary and sad event... I wish all this senseless violence that surrounds us,
envelops our kids and clouds the grande beauty we could revel in everyday would go away. I read something lovely this week about birdsongs. Maybe on here.
Anyway, "Every morning we could...

Once upon a time I was a vegetarian for a few years. Except for bacon.

I chanced upon a series of cookbooks by Anna Thomas, the first of which was The Vegetarian Epicure. A most refreshing change from the usual health-foodie
vegetarian cooking. Prodigious butterfat, lots of carbs, fully loaded with delicious. Even though I've long abandoned my vegetarian ways, the two
original Vegetarian Epicure books remain my favorite cookbooks and are opened frequently -- more for...

I'm listening right now to the new Mississippi Sheikh's tribute album, Things About Coming My Way. It's from the creative hand of producer (and
excellent player) Steve Dawson. This is not the usual hodgepodge of covers intended to showcase a label's stable, but a carefully crafted set involving a
diverse group of outstanding musicians. It's really great.

Artists involved include such notables as Geoff Muldaur, John Hammond, Bob Brozman, Madeleine Peyroux,...

I've posted about Lisa Hannigan before and just saw her again last week - absolutely the most riveting voice I've heard in years. She has tremendous
range and tone, both in voice and lyric and just floors me. She's wrapping up the US tour with David Gray, but is headed back to Ireland & the UK to
wrap up the year. If you get the chance, absolutely get out to she her and the band - they are also every bit as nice as they are talented, so stick around and

Kevin,

You're first SESAC-registered songwriter I've had the chance to ask this question: How did you happen to join SESAC? Is SESAC a better company than
BMI or ASCAP? After reading and getting quite a few opinions of "they're all about the same", I joined BMI because it was easy. From your
experience and considering all of the other songwriters you know, are they all the same? By the way, I'd love to hear all opinions on this subject. I know
