I am deeply sorry to hear of the huge loss of life and sorrow inflicted on the families, friends and our brothers and sisters there in Austin, Texas, and throughout the US yesterday. Sincere condolences to you all. Such an unnecessary and sad event... Mississippi Sheikh's tribute album

I'm listening right now to the new Mississippi Sheikh's tribute album, Things About Coming My Way. It's from the creative hand of producer (and excellent player) Steve Dawson. This is not the usual hodgepodge of covers intended to showcase a label's stable, but a carefully crafted set involving a diverse group of outstanding musicians. It's really great.

I've posted about Lisa Hannigan before and just saw her again last week - absolutely the most riveting voice I've heard in years. She has tremendous range and tone, both in voice and lyric and just floors me. She's wrapping up the US tour with David Gray, but is headed back to Ireland & the UK to wrap up the year. If you get the chance, absolutely get out to she her and the band - they are also every bit as nice as they are talented, so stick around and say hi after the show....

You're first SESAC-registered songwriter I've had the chance to ask this question: How did you happen to join SESAC? Is SESAC a better company than BMI or ASCAP? After reading and getting quite a few opinions of "they're all about the same", I joined BMI because it was easy. Where the heck have I been...just discovered the music of Jason Eady and I am a brand new fan!
His latest album, which I downloaded from iTunes last night, is soooo cool and soooo good. Very diverse set of songs. I can't stop playing the thing over and over. I liked it so much I downloaded his two previous albums as well....

Penticton/Kelowna Shows

Myself and three friends had the very good fortune to see you guys for two shows.
Both very different.
The Penticton show was at The Dream Cafe, The sound was excellent as was the setlist.
Kevin was asked by one of my friends to play a song off his upcoming CD which he did. Can't remember the name of it but a great tune. The whole show from start to finish was fantastic.
Kevin said at the end that he wanted to play "A Prayer Like any Other" and they don't...

Nov 19 is my birthday and I can't believe it, but I have 3 fab shows lined up to help me celebrate. I get to see Eliza Gilkyson and Ellis Paul in Denver at Swallow Hill on the 14th, Ray LaMontagne in Denver at the Opera House on the 17th, and...AND Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller at the Mackey in Boulder on the 20th! My husband and I had the good fortune to see Justin Townes Earl a couple of weeks ago, an unbelievable talented (and skinny!!) guy. Chamaeleon-like in his delivery of his splendid tunes. It got us to wishing and hoping for a visit from Kane Welch Kaplin some time in the near future? Any chance???? With the northern-hemi dwellers heading into Winter, perhaps you can sun yourselves on our shores in between songs!

just saw "where the wild things are"...do not mistake the fact that this is an adaptation of a children's book with the fact that this is a children's movie...it is not...the movie is dark, depressing, somewhat violent, and hard to follow in spots...as many of the folks here have children, grandkids, and the like, thought a word of warning might be in order...

now, will adults like it? i didn't...while i understand the necessity to flesh out a 10 sentence book...

Every time he plays there I swear it was the best show ever. John Fulbright joined towards the end for 3 or 4 songs, they played the best version of Long Cold Train that I've heard.
