Facebook has it's strengths but it's awfully....ummm shallow, I guess.  Because, as Kevin said, you can't stretch out....everyone tries to be so glib and clever and happy.  Get's on my nerves.  I use it to post links to my blog as some friends like to access it that way.  It seems that with many of the people I've reconnected with on facebook it starts out as great fun---'hey, how are you....what's going on in your life?' but then peters out to just reading each other's updates.  People I've reconnected with on my blog---I seem to have more of a genuine connection with them.  Perhaps it's just the extra level of effort....I don't know.....

Another funny thing I've noticed of late.  In the last four or five years----between writing my blog and facebook and the like----I have found that the friendships that were somehow connected with music (even if long in the past) seem just as strong where as others fall into that facebook level of shallowness.  I guess because there's some kind of passion behind that connection---whereas connections that were based on work or casual friends....don't have that spark.
