That's me on Kevin's left, very cheekily holding his hand! I'm sure I was taller before we got to Katoomba?....must have been all that rain made me shrink a bit!
I'm going to share a few magic moments so please bear with me if they seem a bit "you had to be there". It's just that I know you will all have your own delicious memories from other shows too so I hope its all good!:
* Being treated as a friend rather than a fan by Kevin, Kieran, Fats and Lucas. Made us feel very special indeed! The coffee moment was lovely thanks Kevin.
* Being acknowledged during the show for travelling so far to see the guys play and having Kevin promise that they would 'come to our place next time'. In memory terms, elephants aren't a patch on me.... the expectations have been set!
*'Postcard From Mexico' x two times. I just think it's the sexiest song! I did listen to the Dave Olney and Sergio Webb version on youtube too....loved it of course....but they aren't KWK. Have to say that after 24 hours or so travelling to and from the gigs, Bente and my version is now pretty hot too!
We love this shot of Fats:
* What do you put in a dogcart anyway? Monkeys of course!!!
* 'Maloney Road' at Saturday's show was schmokin'. Phew! Thanks Fats.
* All the new songs - espesh Kieran's 'Unfaithfull Heart' (makes me cry every time) and 'Don't Try To Fight It' . We gave the 2 new
cds their appropriate hiding for the 12 hour drive on Sunday.....and still love them!
* 'Highland Mary'. Have to confess to being a bit neutral about this song on the KWK cd but hearing and seeing Kevin and the guys do it live brought it
to life for me. Warms my heart big time now.
* Chatting with Fats and Kieran in the guest lounge Saturday arvo. Kieran says "I'll just slip away to my room now and rest up before the show"
and exits stage left to a chorus of "slip away, slip away, slip away". Te he!
* Lots of photo opportunities. I'm secretly calling this the family portrait:
* Meeting Sandra from our MessageBoard and local Blue Mountaineers Kathy and Ken. Lovely to make new friends and share stories of music adventures. If anyone
ever needs a bed for Byron Bay Blues Festival just whistle.
* The staff at the Clarendon Guest House were just great! Even puny little Lachlan behind the bar who had such trouble getting the corks out of our champagne
bottles. That's him between Bente and I. We had to have a bicep competition with Lachlan and KWK mixer, Steve "the Fifth Beatle", to motivate him
to get to the gym and build himself up a bit.
* "Thanks" heaps to Rob and Anne for arranging the tour and enabling us to share all this.
* And to my best friend Bente for coming along for this magical carpet ride with me....Thelma and Louise eat ya heart out!
* And how do we say thanks to Kevin, Kieran, Lucas and Fats? Can't do it big enough. It's such a long way to come and such a lot of travelling around
and you still find the space to open your hearts and give us so much! Enjoy your final few days in Oz. I hope Port Fairy Folk Festival treats you well and you
geet some time to relax and enjoy it. See you at 'our place' soon.
Here endeth the rave. Hope you can feel and share in a bit of the delight and joy we had/have.
Peace and smiles. Sue
