Thank you for your service. You are appreciated. I wrote this last year and it will always ring true for me:
To The Vet
Thank you for giving up years of your life
So that I can add years to mine
Thank you for putting on the uniform
And carrying the weapon
That allows me to choose the life I want
Thank you for your pain and wounds
Your terror and courage
Your loneliness
Your agony and suffering
Your pride and commitment
Your tears and lack of comfort
Thank you for the mud you've struggle through
Physically and emotionally
Thank you for the dedication that put you out there
Even when you and we didn't want you to go
Thank you for your love of freedom
Every bit as strong as a Mother's love
You give your time, energy and life for your child
Thank you for your damaged life
Caused by your service to me and mine
God keep you on earth and reward you in heaven
Thank you protector
of the people and country
Blessings on all,
Connie
PS I promise I won't do this every year. I'll write new next year. cjl
