I found this today via my blog. It's called Map the Fallen and is pretty cool, and there's a song lyric/quote by Kevin, with a link to this very place
at the the end, (even though someone corrects the author & tells him where the line really came from - lol!).. Thought y'all might like it:

Hey Deb, that's a pretty cool site. And cool that they quoted Kevin. And though someone posted the poem, stating that's where it really came from, I think the saying itself is a lot older than that, and the author of the poem used it there as well. Do y'all remember how Kevin used to perform "Life Down Here On Earth"? It started after Dr. Phil had released his latest book. Anyways, Kevin would perform the song, and right before he'd get to the part of singing that line, he'd stop...and go into this hysterical rant. He would say before he sang the next line, he wanted to get a few things straight. He talked about how this Dr. Phil book had come out, and at the beginning of each chapter, there'd be a quote. And in this book, that line was quoted, and he was given the credit for it. Then he'd go off, saying it wasn't his line, he didn't write it, and didn't want to take too much credit for it. Said it was some kind of old proverb he'd heard, and it was actually a buddy of his that made it fit in the song. So, basically just that humility of Kevin's that said, "Don't give me credit for this line!" And then when he'd actually SING it, the crowd would laugh and applaud that much louder. It made for one fun damned moment...definitely for the crowd, and I think Kevin enjoyed it as well. Maybe someone out there has a recording of him doing this very speech. It's been awhile, and I don't remember all the details, but I heard him do it several times, and I simply laughed my ass off every time he did it. Just classic Kevin. He Kev...Taylor's a bit bummed out, you're not performing anywhere around here while she'll be down for her summer vacation. She said she'd "settle" for Steve Earle at The Paramount. But, from the words of wisdom from my 12 yr old daughter..."Yeah, Steve is good. But he's no Kevin Welch!" She cracks me up. Hope all is good and y'all take care. Adios.

It is a really great site, Deb. Thanks for sharing it. I actually saw an interview with Kevin out on Youtube where he credits Mike Tyson with the line. Anybody
else see that? Connie
