Samuel, Joseph, and I received your posts about the loss of our "Andy." I can not express how touched we were to read the messages about Andy and
his love for firefighting, family, friends, and music. We have enjoyed Kevin Welch's music since 1989 and have followed his career since. Andy use to work
for United Van Lines in the summer, while in college, and would sing a few lines of "Till I See You Again," when he would tell me goodbye before
moving people cross country. Andy would try to see Kevin in concert yearly if not twice. Andy always invited friends and family to attend the concerts with
him and I know he has inspired fireman, nephews, friends, his sons, and his wife to listen and become fans of Kevin's music. We continue to grieve his
passing and look for him to return home every time a car door shuts. We (thank you family, friends, and especially the Beckley Fire Department) are trying to
keep the things Andy loved, alive around his sons, and Kevin's music is key. Samuel's favorite song is "Train to Birmingham" and when we
rode in Andy's truck that was the song we heard when starting the cassette player. We all sighed and hummed along. Joseph enjoys learning to play the
fiddle and guitar and says he going to play like Kevin Welch. Joseph will pick the guitar and hum just as his daddy did, his favorite being "all of
them" when asked. Thank you again. I tried to make this post as uplifting as your messages. The boys enjoyed being read each one; they seemed to cheer
knowing people loved their daddy just as they do. And Andy - We love you and miss you....Till I see You Again, Sweetheart.

Thanks for posting...I always enjoyed Andy's cheer and interesting stories, and I know Kevin was very concerned about you and the boys when he heard the
news and wanted to send the posts to you. We'll miss him.
Also, thanks for using the photo of you, Andy and the boys with Kevin as your avatar...you have a beautiful family and it was nice to get to see them. Colette |

Glad you and the boys got the package. Hope Andy's folks got theirs too. Maybe we can arrange some guitar lessons down the road for the boys. I could
probably round up a fiddle player too, Fats is a great teacher....we love you guys and as eandc says, we will continue to think of you. Stay in touch anytime
you feel like it, and please, pass along our hellos to the boys down at the station. best, kw

I send my very best thoughts and hopes to you and your beautiful sons for now and for the future. The pain of losing your soul-mate and the father of your
children is almost unbearable at times, however the sun does shine again I assure you. From your writing it sounds like you have a wonderful network of people
ready to link hands and help you with tomorrow, as well as helping you to keep the flame of your husbands life lit for you and your boys. Maneuvre gently
through your grief, it takes time.
With love, Milli |

Sherry, how amazing are you to be concerned about making your posting to us 'uplifting' as possible for us, despite the circumstances in which it is
posted. That's a beautiful grace. Thankyou.
I'm sure many of us still think of Andy every time they log on to the messageboard. I know I do even though I really didn't have many conversations with him at all here on the board (although I always enjoyed reading his words and hearing his thoughts). It is amazing how someone you don't really know can have such an impact on your life. Hugs and peace to you and your gorgeous boys. Sue |

I agree with Sue N about the impact Andy had on all of us. I noted to a friend that the loss of a "cyber-friend" had such a strong impact on
me...Andy is remembered in this group as well as you and your family. I met some friends at a pizza place last week and a fire engine pulled up....after a few
minutes, one of the fire-fighters came out with like 15 pizzas...I immediately thought of Andy and wondered if he disapprove that they ordered out rather
making a firehouse meal. Made me smile.
Take care of yourself, Mary |
